Biography & Trajectory
Christophe de Callataÿ
- International CEO and contemporary artist whose philosophical body of work explores the future of humanity.
- Selected among the 100 Artists of Europe and named CEO of the Year 2026 for Transatlantic Relations.
Christophe de Callataÿ's work lies at the intersection of oil painting, philosophy and poetic imagination.
His experience of several decades in international affairs, as a key observer on geopolitical issues, provides the starting point for an artistic inquiry into the transformations of our world, the fragility of our societies and the destiny of mankind.
His paintings explore the major questions and tensions of our time: civilisation and chaos, spiritual quest and disenchantment, life as a fight, the pursuit of a glory, the fragility of democracies, the climate emergency, artificial intelligence and the uncertain future of humanity.
Each work is accompanied by a title and a short text that extend its narrative and philosophical dimension.
Together, his paintings form a vast narrative and humanistic mosaic, evoking the stained-glass windows of an imaginary cathedral that would illuminate, work after work, the history and destiny of humanity.
Artistic Foundations
Self-Taught Origins & Creative Genesis
Born in 1962, Christophe de Callataÿ discovered painting at an early age. At the age of thirteen, he won the 1st prize in a national painting competition organised by the ADAC (Association des Arts et de la Culture) and the Royal Museums of Fine Arts in Brussels, already revealing a strong sense of composition, colour and visual storytelling.
Alongside his professional responsibilities, he has spent several years developing a personal pictorial language that does not fit neatly within the traditional categories of abstraction or figuration.
Public Affairs & leadership
Academic Formation & International Exposure
Holding degrees in philosophy (UCL), law (UCL), journalism (ULB), international relations (ULB) and management (Solvay Business School), he initially pursued a career in international public affairs. Since 2016, he has served as CEO of the American European Community Association (AECA), a Brussels-based international organisation promoting transatlantic dialogue, founded by the President of the European Commission and the Prime Minister of Belgium.
The EU-U.S. trade relationship is the world’s largest and most integrated bilateral economic partnership, representing nearly 30% of global trade and 43% of global GDP.
His experience as a business leader and position as a key observer of global geopolitics, acting at the interface between business and politics, now directly informs his artistic perspective: an understanding of power relations, an observation of technological and geopolitical transformations, and a first-hand encounter with the forces and people reshaping our societies.
In 2026, he was named "European CEO of the Year 2026 – Transatlantic Relations" by EU Business News.

“For decades, I have worked on relationships between people, power, politics and nations. Painting allows me to ask a different question: what kind of humanity are we creating
— and leaving behind — for generations to come?”
